“The tablet was returned to the sands that had spawned it beneath the citadel of Saladin in ancient Cairo, foretelling of the time in the distant millennia when the stars of Orion come together. The ceremony is performed and Set entombed."
-Semerkhet, High Priest of Horus
Following the controversy surrounding Mike Resnick's The Amulet of Power, a novel that fails to properly account for key story elements established in the games, I set out to write my own interpretation of the events between The Last Revelation and The Angel of Darkness. This retelling draws upon deleted content from The Angel of Darkness and reimagines Resnick's premise with my own personal flair.
Entombed within the Temple of Horus, deep inside the Pyramid of Giza, Lara Croft awakens to silence and darkness in the aftermath of The Last Revelation. The world above believes her dead. Alone, wounded, and buried beneath tons of ancient stone, she must summon every last reserve of strength and cunning to escape the tomb that was meant to be her grave.
But escape is only the beginning. The Egypt that awaits her is a land transformed: ravaged by the unleashed wrath of Set, its cities in ruin and its people scattered to the winds. From the chaos, new human factions have risen, each pursuing its own designs upon a broken land, and none of them kind to a lone survivor crawling out of the sands.
To find her way back to civilization, Lara must cross a country descending into darkness, where gods and men alike conspire against her, and where survival will demand everything the tomb could not take from her.
Lara Croft: Entombed is a work of fan fiction bridging The Last Revelation and The Angel of Darkness: a tale of survival, myth, and defiance in a land forsaken by its gods.
